Dr. Teresa Joy

Dr. Teresa Joy has a master’s degree in Human Anatomy and a PhD in Neuroscience from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India. Her doctoral study was on “Microglial and astrocytes expression in Alzheimer’s and possible therapeutic effects of N-acetylcysteine”. She started her career as Lecturer in Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India in the year 2009. She was deputed to Manipal College of Basic Sciences, Pokhara, Nepal for a period of 2 years. Dr. Joy was the Course Coordinator for Health Professional Courses at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. Dr. Joy is experienced in medical curricula with small group teaching, mainly Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and case-based learning. She worked as block coordinator of Gastrointestinal and Renal systems for 1st MBBS students under the new competency-based curriculum. She has more than 14 years of teaching experience in gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, histology, osteology and embryology to medical, dental, health professionals since 2009.

She is currently Assistant Professor in Anatomy at American University of Antigua College of Medicine, Antigua. She has been serving as Small Group Facilitator, Ultrasound and Anatomy lab facilitator and Academic Advisor. She is entrusted with the task of directing the Musculoskeletal system. She is a member of the Research and Appeals Committee. She is currently teaching Foundations, Musculoskeletal system, Gastrointestinal system, and Reticuloendothelial system to the Med1 and Med2 students. She has successfully conducted a short course about ‘Writing a Research Publication’ to the undergraduates’ medical students. She has publications in national and international journals.
