Complaint Procedure

If you experience or witness any type of discriminatory or harassing behavior, report it immediately to your immediate supervisor or any of the following AUA-COM officers: Human Resources Manager, Director of Administrative Services, Vice President of Administrative Services, Executive Dean or Dean of Student Affairs.

Important notice regarding complaint procedure:  Early reporting and intervention have proven to be the most effective method of resolving actual or perceived incidents of harassment or discrimination.  Individuals who have experienced conduct they believe violates this policy have an obligation to utilize this Complaint procedure. An employee is not obligated to report the incident to his/her immediate supervisor if the employee believes it would be inappropriate to do so for any reason.  In all cases where a supervisor or the manager is notified or becomes aware of a matter that may constitute discrimination or harassment, the supervisor or manager must notify the Vice President of Administrative Services immediately.

Allegations of harassment or discrimination will be promptly and thoroughly investigated and disciplinary action, up to and including termination, will be taken, as appropriate.  The investigation will be conducted in a confidential manner to the extent possible.

No employee will be penalized, reprimanded or otherwise retaliated against for reporting harassment or discrimination, for filing a complaint under this policy or for providing information or otherwise participating in a complaint investigation.
