AUA alumna Brenda Mai was recently featured in The Californian for becoming a doctor by the age of 24.
Brenda, a self-described “nerdy student,” graduated high school in Salinas, California by the age of 16. Her next step was the University of California Davis, where she was able to accumulate enough credits to graduate in 3 years. Originally interested in winemaking, Brenda’s career path took a different direction after she volunteered at a medical clinic. She became convinced she was destined to be a doctor.
In 2013, Brenda enrolled at AUA and the rest is history! She is currently placed at the University of Texas in Houston in their anatomical and clinical pathology program to obtain her board certification. One day, she hopes to return to Salinas to be closer to family and friends.
