Nadia is 2017\u2019s Outstanding Peer Mentor! Nadia was nominated by the two classmates she mentored, Saba Tabasoom and Meagan Damota. Executive Dean Dr. Robert Mallin presented her with a certificate in a ceremony that took place in the Education Department on November 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The AUA Peer Mentor program began in the Spring semester of 2017 as a way to develop and foster beneficial relationships between and among upper-class AUA students and incoming, first semester students. Peer mentors draw on their experiences to advise their classmates on a number of concerns from study habits to managing their lives in Antigua. It\u2019s a great opportunity for new students to learn from more experienced students as they begin their medical studies and careers. This fall, the Outstanding Peer Mentor Award was initiated as a way to recognize excellence within the program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nadia is from Toronto, Ontario.\u00a0Prior to enrolling at AUA, she completed a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.\u00a0She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for five years following graduation. Nadia was inspired to serve as a Peer Mentor in the Fall of 2017 after having been a mentee in the program during her first semester.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are extremely proud of Nadia and her achievements as a Peer Mentor.
