In December, American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine launched the Made for Medicine Tour in India, featuring AUA brand ambassador and legendary Antiguan cricket player, Sir Vivian Richards.<\/p>\n
Stopping in four cities \u2013 Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Hyderabad \u2013 the Made for Medicine Tour was open to the public, aiming to connect aspiring medical students with a medical school that produces well-rounded physicians who can practice anywhere in the world. Richards met with prospective students to sing the praises of his native island (including 365 beaches, \u201cone beach for every day of the year\u201d), as well as AUA\u2019s excellent academic reputation.<\/p>\n
AUA is part of Manipal Education and Medical Group<\/a> (MEMG), India\u2019s largest higher education and healthcare service provider. High School graduates from India can begin a two-year Premedical program at AICASA<\/a>, Antigua or at Manipal University, India. After successful completion of Premedical program, student will then transfer to AUA\u2019s campus in Antigua to complete their Basic Sciences<\/a> in two years. Students then finish their medical degree with an intensive two-year Clinical Sciences<\/a> program at teaching hospitals in the U.S., Canada, UK, or India and by successfully completing licensing examinations (USMLE).<\/p>\n \u201cI feel extremely privileged to be affiliated with AUA and Manipal,\u201d said Richards. \u201cAUA students come from all over the world<\/a>, and they bring such a positive energy to the island.
