The Foundations course is a requirement for all clinical sciences students and must be completed by the end of week seven of FM1\/IM1. There is a full curriculum that includes certification courses such as the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Cultural Competency Program; and the Institute of Healthcare Improvement Basic Certificate in Quality and Safety; a Professionalism program; a short quiz on important aspects of the Clinical Rotation Guidelines; and the Clinical Partners Mentoring program. The Clinical Partners Mentoring Program is facilitated by the Clinical Scholars TAs, aligns with clinical practice expectations, and enhances your ability to perform during rotations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Clinical Scholars Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Clinical Scholars Program (CSP) is comprised of high-achieving clinical students and recent alumni who have demonstrated academic and clinical excellence during their tenure at AUA. They provide support services to students in CN6 through CN8 through tutoring, Question Partners Program Series and the Clinical Partners Mentoring Program. Students are matched with either a tutor or can self-enroll in a program that allows the Scholar to help identify gaps in knowledge that can improve clinical judgment and reasoning skills.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Clinical Partners Mentoring Program<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Clinical Partners Mentoring Program is designed specifically to provide guidance for students as they transition into their clerkship rotations. Your CP sessions will be filled with information to help you navigate the many aspects of being a clinical sciences student. Each of the Clinical Scholars that assume the role of Clinical Partners Mentor are trained to provide an informative, interactive experience in which students are encouraged to participate in their learning. There are four 1.5-hour mentoring sessions in this program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Individualized Tutoring<br \/>\n<\/strong>Tutoring is provided to students by our highly selected Clinical Scholars Team who will assist the student with identifying knowledge gaps. Students are required to complete a comprehensive tutor application request form. Upon receipt of the application, the student is matched with a tutor who will reach out to them to schedule the tutoring sessions. Each student is eligible to receive up to 4 hours of Free Tutoring to support them in each of the respective core rotation. A student may request additional hours for tutoring, which is subject to approval. A student must complete a new application once they move on to another core rotation if they choose to receive tutoring for that new core rotation. The tutor request form is easily accessible and located in Blackboard in the AUA Clinical Pulse Organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><strong>Question Partners Program Series<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Question Partners Program Series includes \u201cPrep Programs\u201d provides targeted improvement of clinical judgment and addresses cognitive errors on USMLE style questions. The Question Partners Program Series is conducted by our Clinical Scholars team. The <a href=\"https:\/\/elearning.auamed.net\/webapps\/blackboard\/content\/listContentEditable.jsp?content_id=_290473_1&amp;course_id=_6756_1&amp;mode=reset\"><strong>QP Comp Prep Program<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/elearning.auamed.net\/webapps\/blackboard\/content\/listContentEditable.jsp?content_id=_290473_1&amp;course_id=_6756_1&amp;mode=reset\"><strong>QP Step 2 Prep Program<\/strong><\/a> are four sessions each and contain mixed question sets. All questions within the series address imaging, biostats and ethics. It is a collaboration between Clinical EED, the Clinical Dean&#8217;s Office and Graduate Affairs. The Residency Advising program includes a wide range of workshops such as<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Match Season Info-Session<\/li>\n<li>Personal Statement<\/li>\n<li>CV\/Resume<\/li>\n<li>Interview Prep<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These sessions enhance student awareness and provide information on how students can maximize their potential to enter the match and exit with either their desired or alternative specialty. Students upload required documentation for advisors to review prior to the advising session. Advisors then give insight on opportunities to improve chances of matching in the residency of their choice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">1:1 Advising Sessions are offered by our Clinical Chairs and Deans to provide feedback on overall residency interview readiness.
